Reiki, You and Your Pet’s Best Friend

Hi All,

About three years ago I was formally trained to work with animals and Reiki. But since my earliest days of practicing, some 15 years ago, I have shared the gift of Reiki with my cat Kiri.

For those not familiar with Reiki a little background. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God or Spirit Wisdom” and Ki which means “life force energy”. One translation then for Reiki is, “wisdom of life force energy.”

It is a relaxation, meditation, and healing technique. It is practiced with the recipient fully clothed or furred as the case may be.

The practitioner is a conduit. By laying his/her hands on each of the body’s major energy points they allow the innate wisdom of life force energy to flow through themselves to the recipient.

This brings harmony to the energy fields of the body. This harmony promotes deep relaxation and healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

Where it is not possible to directly touch the recipient, for example a burn patient; wild or traumatize animals; being physically distant, the Reiki practitioner can send the energy from a distance.

I have occasionally felt, when I give someone a session, that they did not really feel all that much and that the session was not very productive. And yet these people would still tell me that they felt better. That the session was good.

I think sometimes people just don’t want to hurt another’s feelings and they tell those little while lies that they think will make everyone feel better.

Kiri - My Reiki Junkie

What I love about animals is they never lie. Never ever!

When you give an animal a Reiki session and afterwards you see their pain relieved; you get a great big thank you lick across the face; you see a 600lb pig get up on his feet for the first time in over a week.

Well then, you know in your heart that Reiki works!

I have known for a long time that this stuff works. My family, friends, clients, and my Reiki Junkie Kiri, all know it works.

Reiki is now recognized by main stream western medicine as being a valid alternative treatment for many diseases. Check out the links below or google “reiki in hospitals” and you can read all about it.

I encourage you to look into the healing wisdom of Reiki. Find a practitioner near you and have a session, get your dog or cat a session too. You will enjoy it and I know your pets will show you how much they like it too.

You may just find that, Reiki is you and your pets best friend.

Peace,
-Ron-

    Hi Ron,

I loved the part “animals don’t lie”, this is a very touching post -and I love the picture. I know that right now, those who have the ability (everyone does but they don’t know that they could) and knowledge will send energy to Japan.
Awesome post, I know that many from the Blogging To Learn Group can relate and will leave wonderful comments,

Thank you Franziska. I have been sending healing energy to Japan since I first heard about the earth quake. I have friends that live in Tokyo and fortunately they are all ok. Facebook was great for contacting my friends and finding out how they where.

Wonderful post, Ron! I did not know that you were a raiki practioner — way cool! my massage therapist is also a raiki master and she has helped me immensely.

I helped organize a pet blessing and expo (took place weekend before last– huge success!) and we had animal intuitives & many energy healing animal therapists on hand. it was Paw -inspiring to see the animals immediately get calm and focused when receiving treatments.

I try to engage my pets in meditative deep breathing with me, by holding them close to my chest. sometimes, they go into a trance. other times, it’s just wiggly madness!!

    Kiri is one lucky kitty!!

Thank you Heidi and Atticus. I saw your post about the pet blessing and expo, wish I was still living in the Bay Area as I would definatly have come. Kiri has had a nervous stomach condiditon most of her life and the Reiki really helps to clam her down (and keep her food down too.)

And I think I am one lucky human to have her companionship.

I never imagined that Reiki could be done on animals! That picture of the cat makes me want to gather up my cat and bring her to you! (me too!) I just love how you say that animals don’t lie. You are so right–it’s hard for us to be honest sometimes when people are trying to help us.

This really makes me interested in learning more, for humans and animals both. Thanks.
